This pencil board gives you a hard surface to write on when you don't have a table handy, so you can take notes on the train or in a chance meeting. Just slip it beneath the page you're writing on to create a sturdy writing surface. The "Today" tab at the top also serves as a bookmark, and the pencil board has a grid pattern on one side and a metric ruler on the other.
